A lot of songs in FNF use 'heavy' and 'raw' lines, except maybe Runaway and Love To Love You

Heaven Knows is complicated, because basically it's about suffering although I really can't determine who 'her' in this song refers to. Does it refer to the singer, or some inner strength the singer has because the singer here is already represented by the first person POV? I do think it's somewhat deeper than a girl grieving for a relationship, for some reason...

Is Leave Me Alone a pre-FNF song? Leave Me Alone is another interesting one. At first I thought it was simply about the singer longing to escape from an unpleasant relationship with the man trying to change her into someone she's not, but one day I was reading through the lyrics and thought...could it be about the band wanting some more artistic freedom from people they got involved in the industry who perhaps wanted to take control over their image, etc.? This bit in particular seems quite striking to me:

What do you want from me?
Do you dream of a life, your life through me?
Myself, my time, in one we unite
I don't ever want to be that girl
You want me to be

Then again, that really wouldn't be the case if this was written before FNF...

A lot of lyrics in FNF seem really raw to me, and by that I mean the words are quite abstract, definitely not something we hear on a daily basis, and it takes quite some efforts to totally understand what most of the songs mean. As years went by, however, the band learned to write songs more seamlessly and 'smoothly' (again, for lack of a better word!) without sacrificing the storytelling aspect.
