Hurt Before was indeed written by Andrea. From the old In Blue web site:

Hurt Before Music/lyrics: A.Corr, 4.05
"It's sort of autobiographical but sometimes it's easier to write in the third person. I don't want to give my whole self away - but I know I am anyway. It's about being hurt and sometimes you just have to grow up and step outside of that and take whatever is going to come your way and open your heart. There. I'm embarrassed now!" - Andrea

"Speaking of Borrowed Heaven, I find this song pretty unique compared to other songs by Andrea - the lines are short, the lyrics are not nearly as wordy as some of Andrea's songs tend to be, and the chorus is perhaps the simplest I've found in a song written by Andrea."

BH is one of my very favorite songs, and I agree that it is unique among the Corrs' songs; it has a completely different vibe from any other song of theirs. I don't think it's necessarily unique in a musical/harmonic sense, but rather in terms of its arrangement and production. Of course there's the presence of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, but even aside from that, the song has an unusually spare, lean sound in the verses, with a heavier rhythm track than is typical of the Corrs. The chant-like nature of the chorus reminds me of two other songs:

Shout by Tears for Fears

In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel

I also wrote a long post on the unusual bass parts and other touches in my favorite live version of BH a while ago.

Brilliant song!
