I agree, it's an odd choice for a single, and though I love the new song (strangely for me when I first hear a new song by them!) I understand why you might not agree with it.
Nothing they have released, either as a band, or solo, has been made up of songs that all sound the same, or even similar, so I doubt this album will be any different.
I think Bring On The Night was a strange choice for a single too, but that's another story :)
