An example of live + prerecorded violin (plus a Hyde Park memory and question)

(1) When they played Breathless in their 2015 comeback Hyde Park gig, the backing track was four beats out of sync (late), which produced an interesting echo throughout the song. This gives us a good opportunity to hear what is on the backing track. Listen starting about 1:15:

Sharon plays her violin part and ends at 1:19, but then you hear an echo of the same part immediately afterwards. So it does seem to be the case that she is playing live *and* there is a prerecorded violin part on the backing track as well.

If you listen to Sharon's part during the middle-eight starting at 2:16, it does sound a bit thinner than usual. So my guess is that they double the violin part to give it a fatter sound that cuts through better in live settings.

(2) I had not seen this video in quite a while, and watching it brings back fond memories. This was the first time I had ever seen the band perform live (on video, not in person), because I became a fan in 2011 during the hiatus. I remember feeling amazed that I was actually getting to watch them in real time, which I was not sure would ever happen. Although Andrea looked a bit nervous in the beginning, overall they looked and sounded great.

3) Does anyone know anything about the intro they used to open this gig, with Sharon plucking her violin like a guitar and Caroline playing bodhran? I've never heard any of the band mention it, and I don't think they've ever played it again. I though it was kind of an oddly low-key way to open a gig.
