I am quite excited! This is not how I was feeling after Son of Solomon and SOS were shared - even though the former song is so haunting that I could listen to it on repeat for a long time. SOS still feels underwhelming to me (though also the new song with the most classic-Corrs feel, I think). Even Son of Solomon felt like a return to the Home aesthetic at first, like Black is the Color Part 2.

But Bulletproof Love, Road to Eden, Dear Life, Butter Flutter - these are heartwarming, uplifting, and dare I say mature-sounding pieces. This combination of a more pared-down, "Adult" sound with a clear folk/Irish/country strand and reflective lyrics on life and love seems to me part of a larger trend among some artists I have listened to in the last year - e.g. Lady Gaga, Kesha and even Beyonce's last album, all more inward-looking and more organic sounding than their previous records.

The Corrs' melody-game is as strong as ever, these new songs reveal, and while simpler/quieter production-wise than some of their poppy hits, they are still quite catchy and every single one of these have become earworms. Not only these songs, but their cover of Elbow's track and the serendipitous access to Mystery of You have me in a Corrs ecstasy these last few days!
