Good point that singing lessons may have changed her style

Such as how she takes in deep breaths. (Although I still accidentally do that sometimes).

A teacher also may have smoothed over the habit she has of starting phrases with a glottal fry (or is it glottal stop? can't remember). When I was getting singing lessons, I was starting a lot of phrases like that (subconsciously copied from Andrea, probably) and my singing teacher drew my attention to it. She said it's nice to do on an occasional phrase to add character, but not all the time.

It's that slightly scratchy sound you hear when she sings "And I" in this clip (cued up to the spot).

Perhaps Andrea's voice was so good just from singing around the house all the time, and maybe her mum gave her some singing tips. Also, I think she might just naturally have a good voice - because I know I have to do do a lot of warming up and practice to get my voice anywhere near as controlled yet effortless-sounding as hers!

Plus, her love of acting and storytelling is one of the key factors that makes her so appealing to listen to!
