Speaking of Chasing Shadows, I'm still surprised at how much I like it while I despise Love Me Better and...

...the two songs are essentially very similar. I guess to my ears the arrangement and the country-esque touch suit Andrea's vocals more than it does Sharon's. Also I find the interlude particularly striking; it's one of the things that make the band's sound so distinctive. And yes, it's interesting that the chorus melody stays around the same area while the band's other songs usually jump up quite drastically.

Wendy wrote, "Funnily enough, the use of the word 'dishcloth' is my least favourite part of the song as it seems to draw a bit too much attention to itself."

The use of certain words that draw too much attention to themselves seems to be pretty common in songs written by Sharon. I've noticed that complex (for the lack of better words) words and terms often appear out of the blue in her lyrics while the rest of the song uses fairly simple and straightforward wording. As for Andrea's songs, the use of complex words seems to blend in with the rest of the lyrics better so that nothing really draws too much attention to itself.

Steve, good catch on the similarities between Hit My Ground Running and Chances. I'm a fan of Five for Fighting, and indeed the two songs have similar piano-based vibe.
