A possible scenario, purely speculative, is that she's asked her sisters and brother what their plans are for the next year or so and found that they are not interested in touring. Now I've no idea who Vonda Shepard is though I have seen Sharon mention her in the past - so maybe the two women find themselves in similar circumstances and with a similar musical background and taste. As Chris says, I welcome it too, at least there is some Corr involvement on the horizon and I enjoyed Sharon's previous excursions away from the confines of a family band.
