Listen to the chorus in the latter song from about 0:41 and again at about 0:54 (also at about 1:25 and 1:38) and then listen to the first verse of "Unconditional" at about 0:14, 0:24 and 0:44 and again at about 1:32, 1:42 and 2:02 in the second verse. It's not just the notes but the phrasing too ... I recognised the similarity as soon as I heard "Unconditional" for the first time. But it's only a small part of the verse and the rest of the song is totally different.
Intentional? I doubt it. I'm sure that such similarities can be found between many newer songs and older ones if you try hard enough, and who's to say that Paul McCartney was the first to use that phrasing anyway?!!
