CorrMac, great observation about We Can Work It Out and Unconditional. I had never noticed that, but I can definitely hear the similarity now that you've pointed it out. I agree that this is almost certainly not intentional, but rather an inadvertent similarity.

For that matter, the chord progression underlying the chorus in Unconditional is very similar to that of Strange Romance and Radio (and thousands of other songs as well).

For the opening riff in Summer Sunshine, I suspect that was an intentional homage -- a nod to another famous "summer:" song. I'm surprised the band never mentioned it in interviews.
