Yeah, I agree -- Taylor Swift's voice isn't really suited for hard rock, whereas Joe Elliott is an excellent singer. Even in Love Story, when Joe came in, I thought "wow, this guy can really sing". But I suppose that's part of Taylor Swift's appeal -- she's the "girl next door", rather than a diva like Whitney Houston or Celine Dion with a big voice.
