Your examples are more like middle-eight (or "bridge" in American parlance) instrumental sections, rather than intros. I'll have to think about those kinds of instrumental parts. I'm currently out of town at a conference, but I'll see if I can come up with examples after I get home.
Wait, I just thought of one. I was listening to Son of Solomon on the flight yesterday, and that has a great instrumental middle-eight (starting at 2:15 below):
The whole song is brilliant, really!
