They would've been required to give up "everything" in Europe and invest a lot of time in the US.
And with everything that went on in their lives, it wasn't an option (or: other things were more important in the end). It would've been different if it would've happened in the '90's, but in the end the band chose family life (and of course a more safe option in Europe and regions they were more popular).
