The biggest money spinners would surely be the spice girls, but I think I recall from a pub quiz question, that the most chart entries was by Bananarama? Which staggers me, as I struggle to remember more than one of their songs. Maybe it's wrong...
Talking about real bands rather than singing groups, my current fave all girl band is KT Tunstall's line up. They rock! Their bass player is a scottish girl, Mandy Clarke. and she is brilliant.
I first saw her playing for the scottish band Bombskare on TV. They are also fab, a nine piece ska band. They won the best amateur band in the U.K competition a couple of years ago. Lots of their stuff on youtube, though only the last few years with Mandy Clarke. Bombskare do their own songs as well as terrific covers. Their version of Britney Spears 'Toxic' is wonderful.
