...the fires and smoke over summer - then flooding - made us all stay inside a lot more. For example, I didn't get to see my brother and my niece/nephew (who live in another state) at Christmas, so I'd hoped I could visit them over Easter instead. Now I probably won't be able to go because of COVID-19!

The government has advised that all events attracting over 500 people should be cancelled from tomorrow. They've advised against non-essential travel etc. We're probably doing better than a lot of other countries given that we're surrounded by a giant shark-filled moat but who knows what's to come.

I have symptoms of a cold (pretty standard for me for this time of year as the weather gets cooler) so I'm trying to stay home as much as possible, but will probably still have to go to work tomorrow. I can work remotely though so will talk to my boss about it. But...two of the projects I work on are in the festival and travel arenas, so I don't know if they'll go ahead!

Our country's leaders seem incompetent, so that doesn't give us a lot of confidence.

Here's a song I've been re-visiting. 'Nothing Gets Me Down' by Icelandic/Italian singer songwriter Emiliana Torrini. The lyrics begin, "Home alone and happy, nothing brings me down".
