I never made the connection that these are the same melody. I don't think I've actually listened carefully to the Tokyo gig, at least not that track. Plus, many of the trad melodies sound pretty similar to my ear, so it's hard to notice whether they are the same or not. Nice discovery, Wendy!
I agree that the arrangement on Home is better, possibly because of the bass and other instruments, such as the string section that doubles the melody near the end. The additional instruments give the tune a much richer sound, whereas the earlier version sounds a bit thin in comparison.
