I discovered the original song, as well as the actual band Fleetwood Mac, thanks to The Corrs.
I generally prefer the Corrs' version of any cover they made, be it solo (Andrea's Tinseltown in the rain) or as a band (obvious choice for Dreams, which was magical then and is still magical now for me).
But with Little Lies, although The Corrs version is pretty great, I do prefer FM's version. There's an edge and wistfulness in the original track lost in the Corrs' cover. I like the heartfelt tribute the Corrs' did though, but the original has a contemplative mood in the verses and a powerful resolution in the choruses that I can't find in the Corrs'.
I'm definitely taking more time exploring FM, they truly were masters of music writing. A fascinating band.
