I'd love to know if the Corrs listened to 10,000 Maniacs. Yes, I hear what you mean about the descending phrase in Hopelessly Addicted resembling These Are Days.
I'm a big fan of the band, and I believe I might have chosen them as an Artist of the Month selection on the OT Board, years ago when we were rotating through people's AOTM choices.
10kM (as they are sometimes called) are from Jamestown, NY, a small city near my home town. Because they were somewhat of a local band, I had heard of them before they hit it big nationally, and I've seen them 3 or 4 times live. I like both Natalie Merchant and Mary Ramsey, although I didn't think Leigh Nash really fit their sound well.
I don't know how well known 10kM are in Europe, but I imagine Corrs fans might also like their pure pop sound. Here's my favorite song of theirs (check out the lyrics in the description):
