Listening again Corrscast season 1 lately and thought about FNF - 2 things, actually 18-Mar-2025 12:28:02

First, how odd that the album ended up having 15 tracks but only 9 full songs? I'm not counting the instrumentals here, most of which were really short (it's explained why in CorrsCast), but actual, original songs only amount for less than half the debut album of the band...:
1. FNF
2. Heaven Knows
3. Someday
4. Runaway
5. The Right Time
6. Love To Love You
7. Secret Life
8. Closer
9. Leave Me Alone
So on a debut album we have very very little actual songs, on the album that is supposed to showcase the band's potential. It would somewhat pose a sort of issue and challenge later on when the band started touring as the setlist was very slim, with about 20 tracks total on the setlist only, clocking in at less than an hour of show, padded out heavily by instrumentals (some of which did not appear on the album such as Haste To The Wedding - funny that they played it in the EPK when it was not actually released in the album btw), and some B-sides such as On Your Own, Rainy Day, Somebody Else's Boyfriend or More Than More (not an actual b-side to my knowledge but you can hear it briefly in TRT documentary "I'll never be lonely cause I have you, I have wanted you now, more than ever before" - and some lines in the live section : "it used to be so difficult, for me to walk away, I'm so used to moving on, I had to walk away"...). Some of these could have been included from the start and perhaps a bit less instrumental sections which did not add much to the overall album imo. I found it an odd choice in retrospect, quite bold considering it put the Corrs in the very undesirable category of "folk" at the time :D
Second thought : we never got an actual FNF tour DVD. I wonder what goes on in the decision to shot a DVD or not. I think there is a Corrscast episode touching on the topic briefly but I'd love to know why this tour in particular never got one. In retrospect it's a bit odd we got two DVDs for the same tour, TOC (Live at the Albert Hall then a year later, Live at Lansdowne Road). I understand why they were both released, it makes sense, and it's nice that the setlist changed a bit between both with a lot more going on in LR, but it is a bit odd to me that the Corrs never released any showcase DVD for their FNF tour - their very first tour! It was quite unique, and they seemed to have had quite a few memorable gigs at the time if we go from witness Paul Gaster who wrote the excellent behind the scene book about the band released in 1999 or TRT documentary (gigs such as Bantry Mussel Festival 1996, 20000 people (!), The National Stadium 1996, the Point Depot 1996....)
So I'm forever sad that we will never have a complete, HQ video of The Corrs FNF tour live! Especially since they played a few things they never played since (not only FNF songs but also instrumental such as Mick's Delight as an intro th HTTW, and b-sides mentioned above + some covers...)
In the same vein, we never got a White Light tour DVD either....The Rex gig in Paris was fire, really sad...
