I did have the opportunity to fly up to Portland, Oregon to see Sharon live during her U.S. tour around the time of the release of The Same Sun album. She was marvelous. I had a set at the front to see her perform. I bought (I think it was) Spanish import of the album that arrive just before my trip, so, before the concert I was driving around in my rental car, playing the songs to try to familiarize myself with them before seeing Sharon perform the songs. I had the chance to meet Sharon, and I secured her set list for the evening, and she signed that for me, along with my CD. She was personable and kind. I enjoyed hearing her perform.
The full band hasn't done much in the United States these past 21 years. They were last touring here in 2004 - though without Caroline since she was ready to have her first child. Right after this, alas, is when they came onto my radar and started getting into their music. I was "just in time to be too late," as Hank Williams sings.
When looking at it logically and dispassionately, it seems that the band are doing the right thing to concentrate on touring where they have had the most success: in the UK and Ireland, Spain, other parts of Europe, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Australia. The last two albums from the Corrs were never released in the U.S., so that indicates to me that the U.S. market doesn't figure much into their plans. The U.S. has never been an easy place for outside artists to achieve success. They did make an indelible impression here, but the disruption caused by the 9/11 attacks made it unsustainable. All this I understand and have resigned myself to accept it (as well as I can). As they say, though, "Never say never."
This makes the videos shared here at the board all the more valuable to us folk who live in the "back parts of Americay."
