I listened to this yesterday, since it came up in my subscriptions at YT.

I've seen this man's name on so much sheet music that I have played (poorly) on the piano. Somehow, I never quite imagined that he had the kind of somewhat dour-sounding personality revealed in your interview and, also, after the interview in that little added bonus audio clip at the end. He's without a doubt a great songwriter though, and it was kind of him to grant you the interview.

Simon, as usual, you handled the interview graciously and professionally. Well done!

Regarding his strong objection to the omission of "butterfly kisses," I understand how he might feel. He feels it is one of the strongest parts of the lyrics. I can only hypothesize that the expression is one that didn't convey the same meaning to the Corrs as it does to him. I tried to do some queries into whether the expression is one that is used in Ireland, and one source, at least, said that it is not. Actually, I have to admit that, living in California all my life, I had no idea what "butterfly kisses" means and never in my life heard anyone use the term, except in song. Some years ago, there even was a song with the title "Butterfly Kisses" that received some airplay, but also back then I was clueless as to what that expression means. Maybe the Corrs decided to go with a term that they felt would be more universally understood by their very international audience. This is just speculation on my part, though.
