Cara, if you don't mind my asking what made you take a gamelan course in college? From your description, it sounds like you hadn't heard gamelan music before. Just curious how you got into that.

I don't think I had heard gamelan music before I took my course, but I knew it was "the music that influenced Steve Reich", which is what led me to want to learn more about it.
