Evanescence wise, they had a VERY limited release album (maybe EP?) before they made it big named Origin.
It shares a number of songs with Fallen (their first album) but everything is that little bit more raw sounding, without the full on production. That for me (available only via downloading means I'm afraid) is them at their best.
