The Corrs Club

Some years back the Ennis Sisters used to cite the Corrs as an influence.

Nice that all 3 did that new CD. Years ago they had one of their Canadian CDs reissued with some bonus tracks on Rounder Records here in the states. The Rounder catalog described them as a cross between the Dixie Chicks and the Corrs so I picked up a copy. I liked it enough to send another copy to a good friend in the U.K. who is a Corrs fan and he was impressed too. That's when I investigated the Ennis Sisters' website. I recall a couple of them citing the Corrs as favorites at the time. That's where I learned about the Australian duo Bachelor Girl (another story for another time and they don't sound anything like the Corrs). The Ennis Sisters used to tour and do folk festivals and that year (way back when) they were doing a folk festival in Northern California. It was too far away and they never came any closer. If I recall rightly one sister played bodhran, another fiddle and another guitar. Their music was more folky/traditional, but they also did some very good pop as in the Rounder CD. I have been watching a few sister duos here in L.A. The 2 I've seen recently are Karmina (Kamille and Kelly Rudisill) and Kris and Alix. Both have very good harmonies. I'll probably post something about Karmina since I think some of you might get a kick out of Kamille who kind of has an Andrea Corr "air" about her. Both sisters can sing well and according to a wiki piece David Foster chose Kamille to sing at several charity events with Josh Groban.
