Katie had a Target exclusive version of one of her CDs a couple of years ago. I've seen her a few times. One time at the Roxy (which is in West Hollywood) there are a lot of Georgian ex-pats in the neighborhood. Katie's family is from Georgia (the old Eastern European country, not the U.S. state. Some of them were talking to her in Georgian. She ended up doing an old folk song from there. Sounded great although I didn't understand a word of course. I also saw her at the Hotel Cafe, but the interesting thing is she also did a fairly long set at Amoeba Music about a block and half from the club earlier. She also did a meet and greet at the store. Got her to sign a CD for me and a couple for fans in the U.K. I know. I didn't think they'd allow video cameras so i didn't bring mine. For some reason it was really lax and I saw several people taking video. That kind of pained me. In fact, Amoeba had 3 professional video cameras going so I know they have some video. They do post video of shows in their stores, but when I checked (been quite a while now) they never posted anything. I did get to see Katie at Amoeba and the Hotel Cafe that day. I had to wait in line to get into the not yet open for business that day Hotel Cafe. A Turkish singer who was born in Germany, but now lives in New York Sinem Saniye went down the line to introduce herself. I got some brownie points because I was the (I believe) only non-Turkish person to be familiar with her music before the show. She sings in a pop kinda bossa nova-ish style. I'm not sure if they are still available, but she had several concert DVDs available in the U.K. You need a multi-standard player, but they are pretty good.
