Like I posted elsewhere on the board, I haven't been keeping up with my French singers. The funny thing is many of them can speak pretty decent English. When I met Jeanne Mas in Brussels her English was so good I almost began to wonder was she French. Like I mentioned once long ago I knew somebody who got me backstage at one of her shows and she was speaking English to me, Italian to some of the band members and French to fans who managed to get backstage. A heck of a display demonstrating her facility with 3 languages. She was once a language major at university in Nanterre. Nolwenn who this thread is really about is pretty impressive. I just got a parcel from a friend in the U.K. so I have this pile of CDs to go through besides others from some singers that have sent me their new releases. Last not really too related bit. Nolwenn is like Priscilla Ahn who adopted her mother's maiden name. Her "real" last name is Hartranft, but her folks are still happily married. I have an old self-released CD by her I've never heard anybody else having (although I'm sure there must be copies around) and it has her legal name on it. I get the impression she thought Ahn was an easier name to remember for fans and she's really into her asian roots.
