One result of being a Corrs fan: before discovering the Corrs, I don't think I had heard many songs with a string instrument being used as a lead instrument (as opposed to a string section playing background parts). (Off the top of my head, one exception is
More Than This by 10,000 Manaics, with Mary Ramsey playing viola. I'm sure there are many other examples, but that's all that comes to mind right now among music that I'm familiar with). But now that I'm a Corrs fan, it seems completely normal to me to have a violin in a pop/rock band, and I don't even think twice about it. (Among our recent AOTM, Nolwenn Leroy also uses violin in some of her songs.)
