Although I don't know this song, I can definitely hear a similar vibe. Even down to the 16th note hi-hat patterns being played.

I don't know about Carah, personally, but I would imagine that if someone isn't comfortable playing bass at all with two fingers, using a pick would likely be an easy option. And the tempo of this song isn't terribly fast so playing 8th notes with a pick wouldn't be hard at all. But I do agree...a skilled bassist would likely opt for the two-finger technique.
