Interesting observations, Steve, as usual. Thanks for pointing these parts out to me. And thank you for telling me about Jane Siberry, of whom I had not heard before. Yes, I can hear similarities between that song and "Bury My Lovely."
I had considered whether you might find interesting both the meter on "Deep As You Go" and the harmonic structure of "Take Me As I Am." I read/heard that there is some classical composition training among the remaining members of October Project (Emil Adler and Julie Flanders, I believe). Here is a sample from the October Project album, The Book of Rounds, which totally impressed me because one doesn't come across music rounds very often these days!
"Rain"
From the preview of the new album by Mary Fahl, I immediately gravitated towards "Gravity" (a beautiful song of appreciation and love) and "Meant To Be," a short, gorgeous and uplifting waltz of a tune.
Bea, I also think your comparison to Evanescence is an understandable and valid one. There are a lot of similarities.
By the way, I was unable to find Mary's own video of "Going Home" at YouTube. I could only find the song as set to clips of the Gods and Generals film (along with often-unpleasant acrimonious debate in the comments section). I did find this link, however:

Here's a live version of "Where You Are" by October Project (with Mary on leads):
