Thanks for the additional recommendations, Steve. I first listened to a 2013 acoustic performance of the song with Marina and Julie. They sound great and blend their voices beautifully.

Then I heard the original version of the song with Mary Fahl:

Again, WOW. She has such a stunning, haunting voice, giving the song a completely different vibe.

It sounds like the song is in 5/4. But unlike many other pieces in 5/4, which often sound jerky or "stuttering", this song sounds like it flows perfectly naturally. It would have taken me a while to notice it wasn't in 4/4 if I hadn't known that to begin with. Cool stuff.

I haven't listened to the other songs you pointed out yet, but I'm looking forward to hearing those, too.

Incidentally, I came across this old live performance of Bury My Lovely:

Mary certainly looked different back then. For that matter, the entire band does not have that "pop star" look, but they are obviously tremendously talented. It doesn't surprise me at all to learn that the songwriters have a classical background. Although I couldn't exactly say why, Bury My Lovely sounds like something that would be written by a classical composer. The verse, pre-chorus, and chorus are all in different keys (see key changes at 0:45 and 0:53 in the version above, then back to the original key at 1:08; second time around key changes occur at 1:50 and 1:58; etc.) I don't think that's something that's common in pop music. The only Corrs song I can think of where the verse, pre-chorus, and chorus are all in different keys is All the Love in the World (I think it's a Mutt Lange thing).
