It's been quite a while since I posted about Joy Valencia (http://www.thecorrsclub.com/cc/display.php?mbnum=2&msgnum=1131318105). She's a very inventive and talented LA artist who creates and produces her own music. What makes her stand out in my mind is her obvious love of sounds and of the music from earlier times (like the 60's and 70's) - see http://pinterest.com/joyvalencia/music/. She does brilliant work producing her own music in the studio that she and her husband have at their home. (When she attended the famed Berklee College, she chose to major in studio production.)

The two new songs are called "Eraser Man" and "Babydoll":

She did some really amazing studio work on both songs, in my opinion getting more impressive as the songs progress. On "Babydoll," for example, there are some brilliant studio effects that remind me of some of the later work of ABBA along with a vocal interlude very reminiscent of The Association, one of Joy's favourite 60's groups. Again, it's this brilliant incorporation into her music of styles and sounds from earlier generations that, in my mind, elevates her music above the common pop of today. She's a real student of music (a self-described "music nerd") and moreover she's fun to follow at Twitter.
