Very cool; that is a lot of variations on an F chord!
If you include an octave at the top, then the highest note of an F major chord is F. Then the Fmaj7 has an E on top, the F6 has a D on top, and the F (without the octave) has a C on top. This F-E-D-C sequence must account for what I'm hearing as a descending sequence. Then you can clearly hear a change from major to minor, which is the Fm-Fm7 part. Neat.
Billy Joel's She's Only a Woman has similar sets of descending chords in its B section. See 1:04-1:33:
