Didn't spend much time there, but it's near the coast. We took a ferry to the Isle of Wight and stayed at a house they rented on the island. His buddy took me to a show by Show of Hands (Steve Knightly and Phil Beer) at a school auditorium on the island. They are a great duo. I think I impressed my friend's pal because I knew who Phil Beer was, awesome stringed instrument player and pretty good singer too. My friend's buddy is a real renaissance man. When I went to fetch something from his closet (at the house in Portsmouth), he warned to "watch out for the morris dancing sticks." I thought that was pretty cool. Although I know a little bit about Paul Young, I'm not sure how many Americans have heard of him. Tex-Mex music huh? That might be a fun band to hear especially since they sound like seasoned musician and can probably play just about anything they choose. Thanks for the insight into Julia Fordham, I had no idea where in the U.K. she was originally from.
