Turned out to be a pretty good night. Sea Stars was having their CD release show and I got a copy. Katie the pretty half (as in female) of the band apparently has a good memory. She remembered me from their Room 5 shows. She has 2 CDs and I got her to sign one of them besides the new release. Saucy Monky was excellent as well, but their bass player Steve Giles is often playing bass in the Cherry Bluestorms. On one of their excursions to the U.K. they became friends with a Scottish band called Eskimo Blonde (that's the spelling). Mike Loszak of the band is in town and going to be backed for 3 shows next week by members of the Bluestorms. He came down with Steve's wife and sat at the table me and my friend were at. Eskimo Blonde did play a show at Molly Malone's in L.A. about 3 years ago. The Saucy girls announced onstage one of their alumni was in the audience, Adam Marcello. Adam is Katy Perry's drummer and musical director. So I finally got to talk to him again. It's been about 2 years since I've talked to him. He's in town rehearsing and getting ready to record the next Perry album. He played a one-off show a few weeks back with Gabriel Mann. Gabe now writes music for Modern Family and his old band are all doing things, so they hadn't played together in a few years. They got stuck with a late time slot since it was a last minute show and the earlier acts overran their times so I had to leave because it was close to the closing time for the lot I was parked in. Adam didn't realize I was at the show because I took off right after they ended. I asked him if Naimee Coleman would be coming to town while he was in town. Adam then told me she was at Gabe's show. Nuts! Adam told me she'd probably fly back (she's living in Dublin currently) since he's going to be in town for a while. So maybe I might get lucky and hear her sing. She's one of Annmarie Cullen's best friends. Annmarie is co-leader of Saucy Monky and is also from Dublin (but lives here in L.A.). I'm hoping someone can talk her into singing a bit somewhere locally. She's amazing.
