The Corrs Club

Back when I *only* listened to the radio, I (almost) thought all good music had vanished from the planet!

There was a time (in the late 80's or early 90') when I only listened to classical music or older music newly released to CD, thinking that new good music was nearly extinct. I was wrong, but I could tell from what I heard on the local Top 40 stations.

Then I learned of this group called the Corrs, and I was lucky to fall among the fans of the Corrs to restore my faith that there is good music out there to be found if you search for it and know other fans who can share it with you.

I DO have to make an exception regarding radio. There is an exceptional DJ that I know in England named Keith Hazelton, who used to host a show every Sunday night that gave me so many wonderful leads for exploring music. He's exactly what a DJ always was meant to be: one not following the dictates from some corporate-level market researchers but who has an ear out for good new music, however well-known or obscure the source. I consider him one of the world's last "real" disc jockeys or "presenters" (as I believe they are called there in the UK).

There was a group of us Corrs fans who listened regularly and he would communicate with us via Twitter during the show. It was a lot of fun. He played Sharon's "It's Not a Dream" right off the bat, even before it started getting rotation elsewhere. All of us who listened to his radio programme were saddened when it came to an abrupt end at the end of 2010.

However, just a few hours ago I had an email from Keith and he's BACK! He'll be on the radio starting next Sunday, 3 November 2013 at Radio Peterborough http://www.radiopeterborough.co.uk/. His show will be on Saturday and Sunday evenings between 2100-2400 UK time. If you're on the side of the planet that isn't sleeping at the time he's on, I can enthusiastically recommend Keith's radio show to you.

Hi all - just to say I'm back on the airwaves in Peterborough soon. Check the weekend schedules: http://t.co/6rotvz8sH1

I'm really happy about this, because Keith has turned me on to a lot of good music. He's an outstanding "presenter" and very funny, too.
