Well I've mentioned her before and I'm going to mention her again. Katie Cole (from Melbourne) a singer/songwriter who has been living in Los Angeles for a couple of years now has released a new video, "We Started a Fire." Katie is a very sweet young lady and has great personality that comes across when she plays live. The video just came out."> The band members are Brad Lindsay (guitarist), Paul Redel (guitarist), Matt Reyes (bass). The guy playing drums is currently playing drums with Katie, but her regular drummer is Nick Bearden who is touring with another band. Nick is one of these musically gifted sidemen who plays various instruments for lots of other musicians. I see Nick playing bass for Jenni Alpert and I've seen him play guitar for several other singers. The keyboardist is Ruby (can never remember her last name) who I have to talk to one of these days. She played keyboards for this Roland Girls Scout Rock campaign along with Nellyris "Didi" Negron an amazing young drummer. http://www.rolandus.com/go/girl_scouts_rock/rrgb.html
Didi is the drummer in Cirque de Soleil's Amaluna show which has an all ladies band. Reportedly they scouted for the best female musicians they could find for 2 years. I mentioned the lead guitarist before, Angela Johnson Swan. If I ever see her I'd like to ask her about playing with Didi. Angela is a pretty amazing guitarist too.
