Readers may recall that I wrote a piece for percussion ensemble that was performed at my college earlier this year. The piece just received its second performance this week, by the Percussion Ensemble of the Kean University Conservatory of Music in New Jersey. Here is a video in case anyone is interested (this was just Part 3 of a larger 3-part work):

(music starts at 2:50)

The program also featured works by JS Bach (Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring), Paul McCartney (Live and Let Die), and John Lennon (Happy Xmas - War is Over). I am a huge Beatles fan, so it was quite an honor to share a program with two of my musical heroes, not to mention Bach!

The performance of Live and Let Die was very impressive and definitely worth a listen (music starts at 5:28):

That is a brilliant arrangement, done by James Musto, who directs the ensemble. You can hardly tell that the whole thing is being played on percussion instruments, with no orchestra and not even a bass guitar (the bass parts are played on piano and timpani). I don't think the video does it justice; the performance just blew me away.
