The lead vocalist is excellent. She doesn't quite have the sense of longing and melancholy that Karen Carpenter is able to put into the song, but that's a high bar to reach. It's an impressive vocal nonetheless, especially considering that it is presumably not in her native language.

But like you, the thing I really enjoyed in this video is watching all the musicians, highlighting all the small touches Richard Carpenter incorporated in his masterful and rich arrangement. Have you heard the original version of Superstar? Here it is:

Hearing the original version reveals how much Richard added to the song. One small touch: listen to the chord at 0:19 above, under the lyric "second show". (Start ~10 seconds before so you can hear the context.) In this version, the chord is a major chord. But listen to the same chord in the Carpenters version at 0:45:

Richard turns it into a minor chord, which gives his arrangement a sense of sadness that's missing from the original, and perfectly fits the lyrics. A subtle change, but an effective one.
