I'm the only one who's posted here in the past 310 days (which disappoints me, but I try to keep positive and not get too down - but, sheez, where is everybody?). Still, unwilling to give up on this place, I will continue with a brand-new Carpenters cover with lead vocals sung Tori Holub: "(They Long to Be) Close to You" written by Burt Bacharach and Hall David, which was probably the breakthrough single by the Carpenters released in August 1970. Once again, James Wilkas has put together the video in such a way that you can see all the different vocal and instrumental parts that make up the Carpenters' arrangement:

About this cover, James Wilkas writes:

I am so inspired to work with this young lady. Tori has a beautiful natural voice, and in this day and age, it's so refreshing to hear her amidst the processed voices and computerized music of today.

I originally produced this project a while back with some musician friends from around the world, particularly the gal who originally sang on it, Gea van Veen from the Netherlands. Gea was a talented drummer and vocalist with whom I had the great pleasure of recording with on several projects. Sadly, she unexpectedly left us back in 2019. This project is in remembrance to Gea, our sweet talented friend.

We hope you enjoy our version of the Carpenter's CLOSE TO YOU, a classic written by Burt Bacharach & Hal David.

Performed by:
Tori Holub - Lead and Backing Vocals
James Wilkas - Backing Vocals, Piano, Keyboards, Clarinet, Audio and Video Production
Tina Sampogna - Flute
Gary Badger - Trumpets
Ynping Mak - Violins
Dave Daddario - Bass
Tom Devino - Drums

The above musicians, as I understand it, are from different countries all over the world, and originally were part of a music website called Bandhub that allowed them to work jointly on musical projects using the internet. I will complete this post with the earlier cover that these musicians made of "We've Only Just Begun" by Roger Nichols and Paul Williams that I had posted in a different topic. This way, they will be together at the OT Board in one place now:
