The Corrs Club

I'm just as surprised (and pleased) that Tori Holub knows this music from the 1970s.

It's still much a mystery. I'm not a TikTok user, but I pop in from time to time because it seems to be the place where Tori likes posting the most. When she posted her short-form video covering "Diamonds and Rust" by Joan Baez at TikTok, she stated, "Joan was my 'gateway' artist into nearly every artist I know now."

I have noticed from Tori's Spotify playlist that one of Tori's favorite contemporary artists is Lana Del Rey (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lana_Del_Rey). At (at least) one of shows at the Hearst Greek Theatre in Berkeley in 2019, Lana Del Rey had Joan Baez join her on the stage to perform "Diamonds and Rust." Is it possible that this may have been what inspired Tori to explore and listen to a lot of music from the '60s and '70s? Tori's Spotify playlists of favorite music* prove to me that she is an attentive listener, because she has picked as her favorites quite a boatload of exceptional songs from those decades. And she has mentioned that she considers herself an "old soul" and takes an interest in older things (including older music) and, clearly, she has no fear of following her own musical inclinations or of standing apart from her generational cohorts.

Tori is going to be TOURING this spring as part of a show put on by Todd Rundgren putting the spotlight on songs by Burt Bacharach (see https://whattheworldneedsnow.net/). I just bought a ticket tonight to one of the California shows in March. I failed to see the Corrs in their early years, but, doggone it, I decided that I would like to see Tori Holub during her first-ever multi-cities tour as a support artist. It's possible that I'll be proud one day to be able to say that I saw her early on, even if she only gets a song or two.
