Hello Boys

Information:
  • Hello Boys is written from the point of view of the madame of a brothel. There is also a possible connection to Madame Bovary possibly inspiring the song.

  • A quote from Andrea from a 2007 Interview with the Telegraph:
"I love escaping into character. It's a chance to try on people that you wouldn't be brave or stupid enough to be in real life. You don't have to take responsibility for depraved or debauched behaviour. But I'm still wholesome even if I write about people who aren't!"

  • Another quote from a 2007 interview with Dave Marshall on Smooth Radio:
Andrea: "Hello Boys is about the madame of a brotherl. She's like a man's fantasy of a woman who doesn't want to talk; she just wants to play. Research? No..."
    Host: "I hope not!"
Andrea: "The thing I love about writing songs is that you can create characters for yourself that you don't take responsibility for being yourself. You're trying on..."
Host: "For four minutes you can be a different person."
Andrea: "Yeah, you're trying them on. And I've always been a little intrigued."

Lyrics:
Hello boys I know you're watching me,
I think that I like it.
I'm so tired that I can barely see,
Come find where my light is.

Now I don't want conversation,
It gets in the way.
Just use your intuition,
I'm here to play.

Hello boy, what's your name?
Hello boy, what's your name?

See me walking down the avenue,
I look like a waitress.
But I don't serve anything you've ever tasted,
I'm a plate.
Now I don't need smooth seduction.
I don't need a date.
I would take your complication,
I'll make you okay.

Hello boy, what's your name?
Hello boy, what's your name?

What do you really want?
What do you dream about?
Are you ready for?
Why do you do that?
What are you living for?
What do you dream about?
Are you ready for?
Why do you do (that)?

Hello boy, what's your name?
Hello boy, what's your name?
