Another Suitcase In Another Hall

Information:
  • Andrea sang part of Another Suitcase In Another Hall in the 1996 film adaptation of the musical 'Evita', originally written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The film was directed by Alan Parker, who also directed 'The Commitments'.

  • Quotes from Andrea from a 2011 interview with Graham Norton - during promotion for Lifelines.:
GN: You were in Evita, with Madonna.
AC: Yes, I was kicked out of the bed by Madonna. [lowers voice] I was the mistress.
GN: Well, the mistress in the stage show - very nice role, because you get to sing Another Suitcase Another Hall. I heard Madonna singing that song in the film! Did you think you were going to get to sing that song?
AC: Of course. The mistress generally sings that song and...
    GN: Generally!
AC: That's how it's written. [humorously] Excuse me, I'm still not really over it.
AC: I sang four lines of it. But you know what, I kind of get it. The story is Evita and it's one of the nicest songs. And so I think that for that reason it probably was important that she sing it.
GN: Who broke the news to you? Was it Madonna?
AC: Ah, no, I don't remember.
GN: You opened your mouth [as if you were going to answer and then stopped]
AC: [humorously] Sorry, you're singing my song!
AC: I don't know. I don't remember who broke the news to be honest. Not that I don't know, but I don't remember.
GN: You should have done it on this album [Lifelines]
AC: [with mock determination] I'm going to do it now!
GN: Sing it live! It should have been me!
    AC: [sings] So what happens...

Lyrics:
[Eva:]
I don't expect my love affairs to last for long
Never fool myself that my dreams will come true
Being used to trouble I anticipate it
But all the same I hate it, wouldn't you?

[Chorus:]

[Eva:] So what happens now?
[Che:] Another suitcase in another hall
[Eva:] So what happens now?
[Che:] Take your picture off another wall
[Eva:] Where am I going to?
[Che:] You'll get by, you always have before
[Eva:] Where am I going to?

Time and time again I've said that I don't care
That I'm immune to gloom, that I'm hard through and through
But every time it matters all my words desert me
So anyone can hurt me, and they do

[Chorus:]

Call in three months time and I'll be fine, I know
Well maybe not that fine, but I'll survive anyhow
I won't recall the names and places of each sad occasion
But that's no consolation here and now.

[Chorus, with Che's lines being sung by the starlets]

[Huevo:]
Don't ask anymore.
