Joy Of Life

Information:
  • Joy of Life is a combination of two traditional Irish tunes that the Corrs play together as one piece.

  • According to thesession.org, Carraroe Jig (the first part of the Joy of Life combination) is a traditional piece, with recordings dating back to the 1920s or 1930s.

  • Also according to thesession.org - the second part of the Joy of Life combination is the same as the traditional pieces known as Whelan's Jig or Morrison's Jig.

  • At her solo gigs Sharon shared this anecdote about the name for the song:
"Over the years I've played a lot of Irish tunes, and the majority of them for some very odd reason have extremely silly names. One we used to play was Trout in the Bath. Why would you have a Trout in the Bath? Odd. So we then named one -- that's me and the rest of the Corrs -- Eel in the Sink, because we thought what the hell, if you can call one Trout in the Bath, you can call another Eel in the Sink. You may as well."
