Old Town

Information:
  • Old Town is one of the few songs released twice as a single for two different albums.
It was released first off the Unplugged album in 2000 along with B-Side tracks What I Know and Little Wing.
It was later released as the B-Side track on the Heart Like A Wheel single for the Home album.

  • Old Town also appears on two of the Corrs concert DVDS - first on the Live In London DVD from 2001 and later on the Live In Geneva DVD from 2004.

  • Ronan Dooney played the piccolo trumpet solo on both CD-recorded versions.
He also performed it live on the TFI St Paddy's Day appearance.
(Another Corrs link - Ronan is also one half of the "Latin Brass" section on the song Give It All Up. He also provided the trumpet parts in The Commitments - the actor who played Joey "The Lips" Pagin was not a musician.)

  • The Old Town release from the Home album was released to radio in the United States. It never charted on any of the Billboard charts, although it was played on the Music Choice Adult Alternative channel.

  • Old Town contains the lowest note we ever hear Andrea sing in a Corrs song. (The word 'town' in the link "You're not around this old town" during the piano/vocal break.)

Written By:
  • This song was written by Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy. The Corrs performed it as a cover.

  • The girl's a fool
    She broke the rule
    She hurt him hard
This time you will break down
    She's lost his trust
    And so she must
    Now all is lost
    The system has broke down
    Romance has broke down

    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broken down
    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broke down

    She plays it hard
    She plays it tough
    But thats enough
    The love is over
She's broke his heart and that is rough
But in the end you'll soon recover
    The romance is over

    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broken down
    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broke down

    [solo]

    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broken down
    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broke down

    I've been spending my money
    In the old town
    It's not the same honey
    With you not around
    I've been spending my time
    In the old town
    I sure miss you honey

    Now you're not around
    You're not around
    This old town

    Ola

    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broken down
    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broke down
    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broken down
    This boy is crackin' up
    This boy has broke down

    [Fade out]
