Information:
- As far as we're aware, the first time this song was played live
was at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2009.
- Dream of You was written about motherhood for her first
child while he was still in the womb. It describes the longing for
her first child.
In a video
interview Sharon says:
"Yeah, I found pregnancy and having children to be massively
influential, writing-wise. And in particular, the title track, Dream
Of You, was the first song I wrote for the album, and it was written
about the bond between myself and my unborn child. And it's just
literally exploring the idea that you've never met this person but
you have this incredibly strong feeling for them, this incredibly
strong need to protect them, and you change everything you do, you
change your eating, you change the way you live, you change your
whole life to make sure that they're safe inside you. And that
really I found incredible, very curious, and very, very
interesting. So Dream Of You is about my dream of him."
In a print interview with Time
Out Dubai she summarizes this:
Question: "Has becoming a mother influenced your
songwriting?"
Sharon: "It certainly has. A track on my album, Dream of You,
is inspired by my love for my unborn child - I wrote it when I was
pregnant with my son, and it's about the incredible bond with someone
you've never met. It made me much more vulnerable so my lyrics are
more vulnerable."

Lyrics:
Sitting on a cloud, but I'm waiting to fall
Buried in the sand, yet I'm ready to crawl
Oh what can it be, between you and me?
Cos I dream of you, and I long for you
All I want is you, oh tell me what to do
Staring at blue sky, but I'm waiting for rain
Floating on a wave, yet I'm ready to drown
Oh what can it be, between you and me?
Cos I dream of you, and I long for you
All I want is you, oh tell me what to do
