The Right Time

Information:
  • From the Q&A session of the old Corrs Official Wesite:
Brooke Asks Sharon: "I was just wondering, you and Caroline have both been quoted in an interview saying that you don't like playing The Right Time live. I was just curious to know why this is, and is there any other song you don't particularly enjoy playing live?"
Sharon answers: "I think we don't like playing The Right Time live because when we were first playing concerts... The Right Time was written before Forgiven, Not Forgotten, before even we started recording that with David Foster, so we already had been playing it for at least a year before then. And then because we only had one album worth of songs, we seemed to be always playing The Right Time. So it just got really really sick of it. It was just a point of 'Oh, not The Right Time again' because it was just a kind of overdose of it. Is there anything else I don't like playing? Leave Me Alone is another one. It's the same reason - it's just because going on from 1990, and it's just a long time to have to play the same song."

  • When the Corrs played The Right Time in acoustic in the promotional tour for Forgiven, Not Forgotten, Andrea used to sing 'and I will succeed' instead of the line 'but what can I do to recall'. Because originally her aspiration was to succeed but later the words changed because the band had succeeded.

  • The song title is believed to be chosen because they all felt it was 'the right time' to push ahead with their hopes to make it as recording artists.

  • This is one of the few songs (possibly the only) song where Jim plays the major guitar solo instead of Anto. Because this song pre-dated Anto, Jim was the only guitarist at the time.

  • The music video for The Right Time was made in March 1996 by director Kevin Bray, in the same week as the video for Forgiven, Not Forgotten. The quote from the insert included with 'The Best Of The Corrs' videos - "The Right Time was targeted at pop radio by Atlantic US, hence the video theme of 60s pop tinged with pyschedelia, and the band's new haircuts and publicity photos - the new style lasted a week or so before the Corrs' classic look returned."

  • The Right Time single (7567-95680-2) was released by Warner Music Europe in 1995.

  • There are several remixes of The Right Time: Lenny B's Club Mix, Lenny B's Radio Mix, Radio Edit, Radio Mix Instrumental, and Radio Beats.

Lyrics:
This is the right time
Once in a lifetime

So I find it hard to sleep
Don't you know
The sun is shinin' in my window
Life's in flow
Makin' music in the morning
Laughter's light
Creativity touches
In full flight

This is the right time, once in a lifetime

Keep it going, let's not lose it
Feel the flow
Ohhhh, flying free in a fantasy
With you I'll go

This is the right time
Once in a lifetime

Now something has entered my mind
Shattering all of my thoughts
It's no good, it's just one big waste of my time
But what can I do to recall...

This is the right time, once in a lifetime
This is the right time, once in a lifetime
This is the right time, once in a lifetime
This is the right time, once in a lifetime
This is the right time, once in a lifetime

[Fade out]
